Religion Math
The general skills focused on in Grade 3 are addition, subtraction, multiplication and place value. Emphasis is place on problem solving and the memorization of basic facts. Decimals, fractions, geometry, statistics and measurement are explored. Reading and English Language Arts (ELA)
Houghton Mifflin’s Reading is a completely integrated reading/language arts program that brings together award-winning literature, real-world resources, materials to meet individual needs, and more – to help all students become confident, motivated, life-long readers and writers. Instruction supports reading and writing development, phonics, vocabulary development, grammar, and spelling skills. Students will be expected to write 3 complete paragraphs by the end of Grade 3. Spelling becomes more and more an independent activity for your child. The students are introduced to a new word list, directions are gone over, and independent assignments are made. Science Science in Grade 3 includes topics in all three areas: life science, physical science, and earth and space science. Social Studies
The main focus in Grade 3 is communities, both near and far. This will emphasize history, geography, economics, humanities, and citizenship. Lessons are centered on different communities in the U.S. compared to one in a foreign land. . |
