OLS

Religion
There are five units that are covered:

  • God’s love creates the universe
  • God’s love makes me who I am
  • God’s love gives me people to love
  • God’s love gives me Jesus
  • God’s love teaches me to love
Math
The students are introduced to:
  • Graphs, patterns, classifying and sorting
  • Understanding and using numerals from 0-31
  • Addition and subtraction, skip counting numbers to 100
  • Measurement – length, weight, capacity, temperature
  • Time and money – calendar, clock, coins
  • Geometry and fractions
Reading
We utilize Houghton Mifflin’s Reading First Program that incorporates, literature, phonics and phonemic awareness with a wide variety of technological and resource support.
 
Science
The students will:

  • Study characteristics of living things
  • Explore the five senses
  • Analyze the ways things move (push/pull)
  • Study the daytime and nighttime sky, including the moon and stars
  • Become more familiar with body parts, internal/external – functions and importance
Social Studies
Some topics the students will study include:
  • My Family
  • My Community
  • My Country
  • My Responsibility
  • Rules and Laws
