Grade 5
The Grade 5 curriculum focuses on developing necessary skills and basic social studies vocabulary while discovering American history. Topics introduced include Native American cultures, Exploration and Discovery, The Colonial Era, The Revolutionary War Era, the Constitution, US Westward Expansion, the Civil War, Slavery, the Woman’s Rights Movement, Industrialization, and Immigration.
Grade 6
The Grade 6 curriculum centers on geography and world history. The curriculum includes:
- World geography
- Early civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Rome, Greece, China, India
- Roots of democracy and republics in ancient/medieval cultures
- Medieval Europe, Japan, Africa and Mesoamerica
- The Renaissance
- Major world religions, including Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism and Islam, and their impact on culture and civilization
Grade 7
The Grade 7 curriculum focuses on early American history from prehistory through the Civil War. Major topics include:
